How to export your IBKR Activity Statement as CSV
Interactive Brokers can export your trades, P/L and account summary as an Activity Statement in CSV format. Here is how to download one from Client Portal and which settings to choose.
Updated October 7, 2026
Short version: Client Portal → Performance & Reports → Statements → Activity → choose a period → Format CSV, Language English → Run.
Before you start
Use a desktop or laptop browser. Statements are generated in IBKR’s web Client Portal, and downloading a CSV on a phone is awkward. Menu names occasionally change; if something looks different, IBKR’s statements guide has the current layout.
Step by step
- Log in to Client Portal at interactivebrokers.com with your usual IBKR username.
- Open Performance & Reports → Statements (or Menu → Reporting → Statements).
- Run the Activity statement: find Activity in the list of default statements and click the run arrow next to it. The Activity Statement lists every trade with its realized P/L, plus account and net asset value summaries.
- Choose the period. Pick Custom Date Range and set the start and end dates, or use Monthly for a calendar month.

- Set Format to CSV and Language to English. PDF and HTML are fine for reading but cannot be analyzed. English section names (Trades, Statement, Net Asset Value) are what analysis tools look for.

- Click Run. The file downloads to your computer, usually with a name that includes your account and the dates.
Which date range should you pick?
For a weekly or monthly review, export one calendar month: April 1–30 or May 1–31. IBKR Analyzer’s free plan covers statements of up to 31 calendar days, counted inclusively, so any single month fits. Pro handles longer statements, and daily IBKR sync removes the export step entirely.
Very large statements can be split: if a range has more than 20,000 trades, export two shorter ranges and analyze them separately.
What is inside the CSV
An Activity Statement CSV is not a simple table. It stacks several sections, and each row starts with the section name and whether it is a header or data row:
| Section | What it contains |
|---|---|
Statement | Title and the statement Period |
Account Information | Account name, number and base currency |
Net Asset Value | Starting and ending account value |
Trades | Every execution: symbol, date/time, quantity, price, proceeds, commission, cost basis and realized P/L |
Dividends, Open Positions, … | Income and holdings, depending on your account |
That structure is why the file looks messy in Excel. Tools that understand the format read the Trades section for P/L and the Statement period for the date range. A single-currency account’s starting Net Asset Value also lets IBKR Analyzer show returns in percent.
Common problems and fixes
“Could not read the statement date range”
The file is missing the Statement Period. Make sure you exported an Activity statement (not a trade confirmation or a custom report) and that the language is English.
“No trades found”
Either no trades happened in the selected range, or the statement language or type is different. Re-export the Activity statement in English for a range where you traded.
“This statement covers 45 days”
The free plan analyzes up to 31 days per file. Export one month at a time, or use Pro for longer statements.
The CSV opens as a jumble of rows in Excel
That is expected: sections with different columns are stacked in one file. Do not re-save it from Excel before uploading, because Excel can change dates and number formats.
Is it safe to upload the statement?
The file contains your account details and trades, so treat it like a bank statement. IBKR Analyzer parses it on its servers to produce the analysis and does not store raw CSV files permanently. If you are signed in, the analysis results are saved to your account. See the privacy policy for details.
Frequently asked questions
Can I export a CSV from the IBKR mobile app?
Statements are easiest from Client Portal in a desktop browser. Mobile apps change often and saving a CSV file on a phone is unreliable, so use a computer.
Should I choose Activity or Trade Confirmation?
Activity. Trade confirmations list executions but not the statement summary sections. The Activity Statement includes realized P/L per closing trade.
Do I need to do this every week?
Only with manual exports. An IBKR Flex Query lets an app import your trades automatically every day.
